Bastrop County Cares and Indigo Innovation Group co-designed a year-long capacity-building initiative, including leadership coaching, equity-based strategy recommendations, and programmatic assessments. This collaboration strengthened leadership capacity and deepened the organization’s community impact.
About Bastrop County Cares
Bastrop County Cares is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families in Bastrop County, Texas. As a regional hub for cross-sector collaboration, the organization addresses critical issues such as health equity, education, and community resilience through strategic partnerships and evidence-based programming.
Tracey’s guidance as my executive coach and strategic thought partner was instrumental in shaping the Resilience Initiative, a collaborative in Bastrop County, TX. Her brilliance, patience, and lived experience helped us co-create a model of collective resilience rooted in reconciliation, healing, and community voices.

Challenge
Bastrop County Cares engaged Indigo Innovation Group to conduct an in-depth assessment of its organizational state, focusing on identifying pain points and areas for improvement. The collaboration aimed to prioritize key elements of work, align timelines, and develop a comprehensive plan to enhance organizational impact through engagement, feedback, and collaborative processes.
Identifying critical areas for improvement was essential to enhance community impact.
Solution
Indigo Innovation Group led a year-long capacity-building initiative that addressed leadership development, equity-centered strategy, and programmatic alignment. The work included:
Conducting a Gap Analysis to assess current and desired states, pain points, and prioritized workplans.
Facilitating educational opportunities for staff and board members to build their equity lens and capacity for cross-sector collaboration.
Providing 12 months of executive coaching to strengthen leadership and cultivate a model of resilience rooted in reconciliation, healing, and community voices.
Collaborating with the Program Director to document programmatic impact, leverage points, and strategies for deepening community engagement.
Results
Indigo’s collaboration with Bastrop County Cares led to strengthened leadership capacity, deeper community impact, and a clear roadmap for equity-focused programming. The organization emerged better positioned as a regional hub for cross-sector partnerships and systems change.
Impact
Impact: This initiative laid the foundation for ongoing resilience and equity-driven efforts across Bastrop County’s rural communities. The work co-created by Indigo and Bastrop County Cares continues to influence local mental health and well-being initiatives and inspired the formation of HEAL Alliance, extending the collaboration’s impact beyond the original scope.
Even after my time with the organization, Tracey’s impact continues to uplift the work we started together, leading to the formation of my own organization, HEAL Alliance.
